We are the fire fighters of local 797 Auburn Maine. We have a staff of 60 full time Firefighters, with 13-15 on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week protecting the lives and property of the City of Auburn. We also do many fundraisers for MDA as well as our children’s foundation and various other charities we donate to.
The Auburn Fire Dept. (AFD) has 3 fire stations, 550 Minot ave (central) 180 S.Main street (E2) and 651 Center street (Engine 5/Tower 1)
We have a rescue vehicle that is dedicated to technical rescue, as well as a small boat that is used to respond to water emergencies in Auburn, and surrounding communities.
We respond on most emergency medical calls with ALS capable and at minimum BLS. As well as fires in the city of Auburn, trucks and crews from the AFD respond automatically to the city of Lewiston as a RIT crew, and the towns of Minot, and Mechanic Falls for fire suppression.
The AFD does more then fight fires, respond to medical calls and motor vehicle accidents, we also are involved deeply with educating the public, especially children, on fire safety and how to safely exit a building that is on fire, as well as teaching children to call 911 for emergencies.
We also inspect apartment buildings and businesses to assure that they are safe for the occupants; this is because the best way to save lives is to prevent fires,
car accidents, and other emergencies from happening.
